We’re heading back downtown! Occupy Houston has moved from Eleanor Tinsley Park to Hermann Square Plaza, right outside Houston City Hall. Come out and stand with the 99%! Occupying public space is an expression of our first amendment rights to peacefully assemble. It’s time to dig in and make our presence felt. Hermann Square Plaza is the reflecting pool right outside City Hall on 901 Bagby St.
Our General Assembly tonight will be held at 7:00pm at City Hall, and there is a legal team meeting at 6:00pm beforehand. Be there and help shape the movement! We’re all in this together!

Hey FLEAbaggers, for the love of God, please answer me this 1 question:
“What is it that you want?”
Your message of “Occupying public space is an expression of our first amendment rights to peacefully assemble” is all well and good, but WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU ASSEMBLING FOR????? I keep hearing about your 1st Amendment Right to “petition government for redress of grievances”, but nobody has clued us in on what grievances you have.
You probably have no clue because you watch fox”so call”news (another news station actually called them that tonight, about time!) Anyway, We (my husband abd I) are protesting our corrupt government. I think that basic umbrella covers most peoples issues. You don’t have a leg to stand on if you want to disagree that..lol
Jim is a troll guys…don’t feed the troll.
Oh yea, I forgot to say:
From Eleanor Tinsley Park – “Good Riddance”…
we are organizing for a new sense of community and to let the people of power in houston that we are here and we have a voice. These are basic rights that have been taken for granted for too long and if you dont want to take part in it if you dont have to. any fool can condemn and criticize but it takes real leadership to do something.
O.K., you “have a voice”. And so far, all that I have heard from this voice is ABSOLUTE DRIVEL!!! [fingers raised all around in silent applause - - - did I get your cute little hand signals right?]. Leadership, as you mentioned, surely ain’t by consensus at the General Assembly. So how exactly does this new “community” expect to thrive, when so far EVERYTHING has been donated to this cause? YOU PEOPLE ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A BUNCH OF FREE-LOADERS WHO WANT EVERYTHING HANDED TO THEM WITHOUT INVESTING ANY ACTUAL WORK!
I am a self-made millionaire, I don’t want anything handed to me. I expect the same from the free loading corporations. Oh and try not to destroy the planet too.
“any fool can condemn and criticize but it takes real leadership to do something.”

So you are saying that the Tea Party movement was a true showing of leadership then… right?
———-
“we are organizing for a new sense of community and to let the people of power in houston that we are here and we have a voice.”
Who took that “sense of community” for granted and what does that “sense of community” have to do with the big dogs in Houston? You want them to know you have a group or something?… is that it? Hell… I acknowledge you’re a group and a small community… will that end this pity party?
Amen Brother.
Henh… Jim, you know what these useful’s don’t quite grasp??… it’s that communism is the means by which PEOPLE who have amassed power… continue to control that power. They use people like this to ask for the shackles be put on so those who’ve amassed the power get locked into that power. GASP!! Then we wonder why the power players are behind this movement and against the tea party movement which is completely against centralized power. SHHHHHHHHHH…. don’t let the useful’s know.
BHA, whats up this the R-neck,inbreed,camo kid avatar? While the OWS movement is a very broad umbrella, I’m not sure this type will fit in. However, I’ve seen some overpasses with residents that looked like relatives of this one. Maybe there’s a forum for that???

Well look at you!!! How clever. Did you think that up all on your own or did you have 99% of your peeps help you out with it? Such brilliance dripping from that comment… any particular reason you start with attacking without provocation or do you just enjoy the taste of crap as it falls out of your mouth?
Oops I struck a nerve with bha..sorry I didn’t realize the waste of sperm in the picture was your kid.

Actually… you didn’t strike anything with me… you’re childish comments roll off my back like water off a ducks feathers. What I did however, was intellectually disassemble your pathetic rhetoric in a manor that shows your true ignorance and silly childish name calling without just cause.
Guess I’ll take the next logical step in your weak attempts to rile me up and say… “I’m rubber you’re glue…”
When you’re ready to talk with the adults… bring your opinions on… until then… I’ll kindly watch as you continue to make an ass of yourself and your movement. MMMMMMMK pumpkin.
P.s. I never claimed this was my kid… you’re ASSuming.
I’m participating with specific goals to limit corruption in government. There are many other progressive agendas floating around, but everyone (seems to) agrees that the wealthiest should not have such disproportionate influence on government, media, and other avenues of social and political change.
If you believe that there should be more corporate accountability in cases of fraud and damaging business practices, that corporations are not people, and that money is not the same as free speech, then maybe you can see some of the benefits of this movement.
So Katie… are you going to somehow change the ways of “GREEDY PEOPLE”?? What are you going to do… chant them into having some morals?

Nice feel good message… but how does this relate to “limit corruption in government”. You have a goal.. “limit corruption in government”… now just exactly how do you plan on making that happen??… by giving government more power to….what?…. regulate itself? Do you not see the 235 year long road behind you? The government has grown by leaps and bounds “regulating” more and more… yet… here we are. Guess those would be considered.. “failed policies of the past”. Maybe we should start taking power back from the government instead of giving more to them… kinda like the tea party has been saying for awhile now.

On a side note… do you even know what “money” is or what it’s even use for?? Hint: “Time is money” – Ben. Franklin
OK…it was your daughter then…that’s even sadder. Your a screw up BHA, get off the board. I said it last so I said it best.

Buahahah @ you… you just don’t know when to quit do you. Tsk Tsk Tsk. You’re only hurting your self & cause with childish comments like these. It’s hilarious to see you do this. Keep em’ rolling.
Katie, thank you for being honest enough to articulate why you feel motivated to be behind this movement. I’m a little concerned in your lack of clarity (the mixture of corruption in government, corporate accountability, money as speech, etc.), but I can grasp your overall progressive theme. Those attitudes are fine for the juvenile, but honestly, how does one become a functioning adult and still hold those kinds of worldly views? That is not an insult on you, but rather an observation on the lack of “street smarts” displayed by the videos and comments that your “group” has produced.
According to you, the propositions that governments should not be corrupt and that corporations should be accountable are juvenile in nature? “Worldy”? Really?
You are entitled to your belief, of course, but it’s an astoundingly stupid one.
Easy, end corporate personhood. Overturn Citizens United vs The FEC. Limit the expansive powers of the legal charter known as a corporation. Meanwhile, it is on all of us to stop drinking 23 million barrels of oil a day. How’s that for some goals?
Jim, How can you be posting at 3:31 pm…thought you were out working hard like a non-slacker. Whatever turd. Hey Jim, here’s an idea, come up with one of your own. I’ve read some of your posts so far and while they are all hubristic, they all show a common thread of lack of reasoning ability & criticism. Continually criticizing is a tell tale sign of fear, probably due to the previously mentioned lack logical abilities and maybe gonads. I suggest you let those who understand things take control and step back into your role of the duncical wallflower.
Troll Alert. Clean up on aisle 5.
TROLL:
One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. ‘you’re nothing but a fanboy’ is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.
