I think mixing and “joining” with other groups causes conflicts of interest. Immigration is an area that can either be a conflict or potentially dilute the message of Occupy Houston. Some supporters of OH would not agree that there needs to be an end to immigration control and/or enforcing of immigration laws by either DPHS/ICE and.or state/local resources.
I concur with Jason, this seems unacceptable. We need to prioritize and publishing absolutely outrageous implications (“We condemn immigrant detention as an industry traded on Wall Street!”) is SURELY to the detriment of the movement.
Thoughts?
I thought this entire movement was all by consensus!?!?! WHAT HAPPENED?
Perhaps reality has set in? Reality, … she’s sure is a a scrappy one!!!!

Profitting on WallStreet from illegal immigrants? I don’t get it. Would that be like a major lawn or cleaning company creating a demand for and profitting from hiring illegal immigrants? Or like a stock traded, like Chipotle, caught in Minnesota hiring illegals? What does it mean?
More and more, detention centers and prisons are run by private “for profit” corporations. They need to keep people in detention as long as possible to make profits, paid for by taxpayers. That’s what “smaller government” means. Outsourcing goverment functions to private “for profit” corporations, paid for by taxpayers. They are working on privatizing FEMA and Education. When the GOP has power, they try to run programs into the ground so they can justify privatizing them. Remember Katrina and FEMA? Remember No Child Left Behind? Complete disasters.
Regarding corporations that profit from immigrant detentions (Corrections Corporation of America and the GEO Group are the biggest of the top 5)here are links to 2 of MANY well researched articles:
