This is it, everyone! Head to Market Square Park and get ready to MARCH! We’ve just received word that there are going to be counter protests to our peaceful demonstration. Don’t let them rile you! Don’t engage them! They’re going to do anything they can to marginalize us and have us arrested. Don’t let them win! A huge, strong, unified showing will send the counter-protesters packing. Come downtown and make your voice heard. Occupy Houston with us, and stand with our brothers and sisters on Wall Street and the rest of the world! They cannot silence us!

Watching from my office window. Seems like only 150 people max.
LOL of course there are, these idiots actually think that they can make a change. GTFO out with that crap, this isn’t Egypt losers.
Do you want it to get to that? How bad must it get before we can peaceably assemble and raise our voices against corporate corruption in the democratic process?? We can and we are making a change, you’re talking about it, aren’t you? We aim to start a dialogue, and that has already begun.
i’m sorry, but correct me if i’m wrong…
“for the people, by the people”
nowhere in there does it say for corporations to get involved.
Right! It’s not: “for the money, by the money”!
I walked by the crowd on the way to my office. I have to admit that I was disappointed. I was hoping for a good looking group, but this was the ugliest group of people I have ever seen. Where are the good looking protestors?
What a joke. Bunch of ugly hippies without any unity or concise message. Looking down on them from my downtown office building just makes me want to donate more to the Republican party, and to buy more stocks, which I can afford because I have a job….thanks to this most excellent free market capitalist society we are fortunate to live in.
No concise message? You’re here on the website, did you not read the demands? occupyhouston.org/demands/
YOU are the 99%, and you are ignorant of the situation that everyone else is struggling in. We protest to start a dialogue to end the corruption in our government by corporations.
You have a job now, but that is not guaranteed forever. Didn’t your mother ever teach you to be fair, just, not to be greedy/corrupt, and to stand up for others? Capitalism is destroying and ending lives. Kill it, not the people.
I am with Steve on this. At least the Tea Party group had about 15% good looking girls. This group is all dirty and fat people. Come on hotties. I want to see your protests.
BTW… This groups concise message is: “my failure is someone else’s fault”
Recall Gandhi’s sage old saw: First they ignore you, then they mock you, then they fight you, then you win. Definitely in the thick of the first three stages: Here’s to creating a vibrant democracy for the people where we “win” a future and a planet that thrives for all beings without exception.
No offense, c. Lee…. But if you people can’t win in your personal life and personal finances… You can’t win at anything. Just sayin.
I don’t get it. What is there to reform? Don’t you already have free healthcare/ foodstamps/ internet at Starbucks/ medical marijuana? My people are working our tails off to subsidize your people. Looking for more in life than sitting in a drum circle chanting and playing hacky sack? Get a job. Start a business. Teach. Feed the homeless. Do good for the world. Big business is not inherently evil, parasitic individuals that offer nothing to society than mass complaints, protests and pathcouli oil are.
If what you’re saying is that hopey & changey thing isn’t working out for you than ok… now I get it.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the Government at defiance. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs. – President Thomas Jefferson.
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. – President Thomas Jefferson
No offense taken, Lewis. I am sure you are an exquisite soul doing exactly what every last one of us is trying to do: get your needs met in a time of turmoil and collapse. Just know that we are ineluctably connected one to the other – “you people” includes you, me and all other beings on this precious planet. And also know that you too will benefit from a vibrant democracy and a thriving future.
There is a good children’s story that everyone should know. “the ant and the grasshopper” Because so many people have not prepared themselves, they look to blame others. The thing that makes this country great is that there is no class system. One can go from being dirt poor to a millionaire and vice versa. Or, one can go from nothing, to a millionaire, and back to nothing all based on his/her decisions. It is wonderful. Nowhere else is this possible! No one can make you successful, only you can make yourself successful.
When you depend on something other than youself, you will be let down. Government and other people cannot give you the life you want. Work hard, be honest, and go getcha own!
