Hey thanks to the C I A for that one. Lsd has opened the hearts and minds of many people. Some who were closed to any outside thoughts before trying it. Now the CIA could care less about the OCCUPY movement. I know this for fact. They are currently concerned with something quite different than a small neo-hippie upstart movement.

Since hippies have been brought up, please be advised that there is quite a lot of information that indicates the C.i.A. had undesirables distribute government created LSD to hippies and prostitutes to observe the effects. The hippies did choose to accept the drug after being told it would make them happy.

In the 60's, people started a movement. Now in that movement there were drugs and free sex. Well that of course attracts some negative people. Ones who search for easy sex and free drugs. At that time there were also violent groups attracted to the idea of being able to cause havok and get away with it. Or pass blame on to the hippies. well the same thing is happening here. But you cant let that distract or discourage you. If the flower children had given up do to infiltraters with their own agendas, where would we be? As far as kids go, I have been to 5 different cities to see how the Occupy movement is progressing. Houston is the smallest and safest so far. In Oakland and San Fran it would have been too aggressive, Detroit would be dangerous. A few of the other cities we went too would have been cool as well.

Also in regards to OH picking certain "fall guys" to be arrested. It makes sense to do things like that. The media and the public mostly dont notice the OH or OWS people. The only thing the media is interested in is sensationalism. Well arrests offer that.

After further research, I found out from an undisclosed source that the arrests in October were members that were recruited from Occupy specifically to be arrested for the march. The thought process behind this is regarding public/meda relations in try to build the group size.

It is my understanding the local Occupy group had several more people attracted to the movement after the arrests a few nights ago. In addition, there is talk about continuing this approach to grow the group. However, I do not like this approach, as I think it is not likely to attract ethics oriented people to the movement but more likely to attract what psychologists would call 'high risk personalities.' Most of the population is not high risk or quick to act on anger, but tries to work together through reason.

I would like to see the group focusing growth on people with family values and empathy toward a variety of people, most specifically the 99%, instead of growing through shallow thinking that caters to people with social adjustment issues.

John,

I looked it up. The Occupy site does not show a poster for it, however it appears to be a worthy cause. The people that were arrested were charged with trespassing at the Mickey Leland Federal Building:

Do we have good clarity for the future as to what areas to avoid?

Thanks, Katie :-)

In the interest of candor, I'll mention that, a few GAs ago, one person said there had been no arrests, and another person disagreed.

The latter person may have been referring to the arrest of eight people at a demonstration on Oct. 12 at the Mickey Leland federal building. It's my understanding that that protest was not organized by OH or any other Occupy group, although some OH people participated. It was reported in the news that the arrestees were "with" OH, but I seem to recall hearing that was untrue.

Ramsingh,

It is my understanding that so far the movement here in Houston has been peaceful, without arrests or violence. If things start to go wrong for any reason or appear to become aggressive, it might be good to have a back up plan, especially if you have your children present. Generally I was told when living overseas to stay away from demonstrations in case things begin to turn, however there was also a language barrier which would have made this more challenging to detect. However, I think the risks here are fairly low in Houston so far.

Since you are new here, I will share John has shown me in the last month his sincerity for the movement.

John, I would like to suggest that we keep people mask free for demonstrations if that is not being done already. Please send me an email to discuss...I am having difficulty sending out messages to individuals.

I assume you are talking about the event at Tranquility Park.

Speaking just for myself, although I'm not aware of any unusual safety issues with this event, I'm not aware that any special arrangements have been made for children. Generally, whether to bring children is up to you, and if you bring them, you will be responsible for them.

That's all I know. Hope it helps :-) If you have other questions on this issue, perhaps someone more closely involved with this event will see this thread and give more specific information.
