This sentiment is debatable. I do disagree with you but say this to help you understand the position of those who seem anti-businesses to you and not so much as to prove you wrong or debate the issue. Evaluation of wages with considerations to the actual buying power of the wages with comparisons to those at the top is critical in understanding the criticism. Who or what is actually fueling the existence of jobs and creating wealth are also issues. The history of labor and businesses in this country along with their motivations needs to be considered as well. You indeed heard these issues in your youth because they have been around for a very long time both within our country and before its creation through rebellion.

This is a side issue to the main theme of the movement which has more to do with how wealth can be used to influence policy, often times in opposition to the will of the people as whole. As a side issue the idea of regulation, in my opinion, should be limited to how wealth interacts with government and the creation of policy. General regulation of the wealth, as with any divisive issue, can and should be decided at a later date with proper representation of the people. I do realize many are pushing for more direct solutions for financial problems, both within and outside the occupy movement, but these messages do vary in political stance and agreeability.

Ask yourself how you feel about lobbyist and large financial contributions to political activity by private citizens as well corporations for any political position before writing this off as simply an anti-corporate movement. Consider how well you feel you are represented now and what advantages you could leverage for your political view point with wealth or positions gain through the use of wealth.

Rhonda, please attend the meetings and general assemblies. If you don't, you really have no idea what our collective goals are, and you sound like the same knee-jerk naysayers who are only sputtering out what misinformed tripe the mainstream media has fed you.

If you are, then you're just flat out missing the message and you need to ask questions before commenting in a condescending tone like no one else is as old as you.

As I expressed at tonight's first GA at Elanor Tinsley, (from what I have gathered, and correct me if I'm wrong) yes, there are views of individuals here that differ from others. Some do believe that all corporations are evil, and some don't. That being said, our mission statement is simply described as above: "dedicated to ending the corporate corruption of democracy".

What that means, Rhonda, is that we are peacefully protesting the bad people, the bad companies, and the bad representatives on the hill, and fighting for more restrictions on superfluous powers they all have that are used to gain money through human misery. That's all.

I lived it too but the difference is we were in on the beginning of the ramp up of runaway corruption of the government by business greed. When we grew up, people could go from high school to a job that they could work at for life for a living wage, working for people who were somewhat concerned with their welfare. Somewhere along the way, greed and not ethics became the driving force. Not just at the top but all the way to the bottom ending with us. As long as there were enough places at the table to scoop away at the pie no one had the time or the inclination to wonder if we were not growing a bit fast or the money seemed to be coming too easy. As we have seen over the last few years, as people got booted from the table they had to time wonder what had happened and why. It's a tough pill to swallow to realize your whole life has been based on false economics built up by banks and corporations playing monopoly with help from the government that was supposed to prevent this from happening.

People keep popping in from the outside trying to distort the message and say that this group hates business. The only thing I have heard them say is

"dedicated to ending the corporate corruption of democracy"

oh please.. i have been around long enough and heard this nonsense ever since i was a young sapling in the '70s.

Corporations are not evil.. please Government is the not the answer...

and corporate corruption of democracy is such a ridulous notion

People are inherently flawed.. and you have to be able to figure that out on your own.

There are bad people, bad companies, bad representatives on the hill.. all that.. use your brain..

pick and choose who you hang out with

no one should be blamed for providing jobs and advancement.. no one.

Corporations are what pays my bills and buys my food..without the owners and entreprenuers out there in America we all would have nothing... go out and try it yourself.. start a business... it's not easy..
