Newer here, sorry if it has been asked before.  I know a ton of people who know of and admire the occupy movement, but are unable to occupy or march themselves due to their life circumstances (work, kids, etc.).

To attract numbers and interest, a lot more people might attend on a weekend day to support the movement and get involved when they can.  This could lead to increased support after this initial event, and give an opportunity to those who want to have an impact a small chance to get involved.

A few questions:

Would a weekend event be useful, or is the  downtown area just dead at this time?

What is the best thing to tell people who would like to attend, but have not done anything like this before, or fear being arrested?

What is the best way to support the OH movement even if full occupation is not possible?

Thanks!

I agree and have asked this before. Most of downtown is dead during the week but that shouldn't deter us from marching. There are several things open on the weekends that are public places. I have suggested occupying some local churches and trying to clergy involved in this movement as they are with the OWS folks. Not being able to attend things that occur during the week is a hindrance on building this. One thing we all have to understand is we need to be patient and keep throwing out ideas. Eventually this will get bigger…it does every week. Keep the ideas coming!

Looks like Occupy Houston is holding a "Clean Sweep" event on Sunday, Nov. 13.  See http://occupyhouston.org/2011/…..-downtown/

I plan to be there!
