I liked what Farmer had to say about lobbyist and fiscal contributions in regard to corporations….is that something the 99% can agree on? Yes, I am fully aware I would like to use democratic process. I think it is essential we find common ground if we are interested in the 99% as this movement suggests.
Farmer, it is likely in the next 12-18 months we will be heading toward a deflationary period, so don't expect interest on your bank accounts any time soon. However, if deflation happens, your dollar is theoretically worth more for purchases. If what I read is accurate, we will likely have these up and down cycles for 10-20 years because our national and global economy is so messed up, not to mention the housing infamy.
Here is another perspective on democracy that includes a few quips also in the video.
Democracy is generally defined as a form of government in which all adult citizens have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives.
As well as republic:
A republic is a form of government in which the people, or some significant portion of them, have supreme control over the government and where offices of state are elected or chosen by elected people.

However, I think we should be consulting people in the group with expertise and/or what they know best; we should ask FreeRational what she thinks, given her background, which if I remember correctly is Political Science.
