Subject: Occupy HISD- Tell them to Just Say No to Valero!
OCTOBER 13, 2011
It’s time to stand up with….OCCUPY HISD
and demand that the school board……SAY NO TO VALERO!
Valero Energy is asking the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to force financially struggling local school districts—including Houston, Pasadena, Goose Creek and Texas City— to give them more tax breaks. If Valero gets its way, schools could be forced to refund millions in property taxes from 2007-2011 and cut more from an already decimated budget. After already losing billions, can our schools afford millions more for Valero?
SPEAK OUT against corporate greed and demand that the school board SAY NO to lining big oil’s pockets on the backs of our kids!
WHEN: Thursday, October 13 @ 6 p.m.
WHERE: HISD Hattie Mae White Building
4400 W. 18h Street • Houston, TX 77092
