Why are we deleting post from certain individuals? I thought the idea of trying to quiet the opinions of others as something only Bank of America and the other big corporations did. If we are going to say we represent the 99%, then anyone in that 99% should be allowed to speak. If we let only 1 person decide who can say what they like only, then we have turned into the 1/1000000000 of 1%

not aware of anyone being blocked for disagreeing. Harassing, abusive posts were deleted, along with spam, and there was an accidental deletion of some posts on the Robin Hood tax.

Hope that helps.

People are not being blocked for disagreement. The Forum is under re-construction currently.  Guidelines and other info regarding Moderation ideas for the Forum threads will be forthcoming.

My 2 cents:  A private web site does not owe free speech rights to anyone.  If someone wants to exercise their free speech, they are free to go down to any street corner and say whatever they want.  This web site is used by those who want to further the Occupy movement to communicate amongst each other for the purpose of furthering that movement. Trolls and Right Wing Nut Jobs are not here to do that, they are here to disrupt that goal.  Their posts should be immediately deleted.

That seems like a very simplistic view when considering the tenants of the movement.

"This web site is used by those who want to further the Occupy movement to communicate amongst each other for the purpose of furthering that movement."

Is that really the purpose of the website, to communicate amongst other Occupiers? Seems like a missed opportunity to not engage those with a differing view point, and then work to bring them in.

I am neither a Troll or a Right Wing Nut, but if Occupy isn't actively working to bring more into the fold, it will surely go backward. Religious groups don't solely engage other puritans, corporations don't go after the people already using their products… 99% isn't one view. Surely that is not just marketing speak. Or has this group indeed been co-opted by one person's interpretation.

This is a Forum. Diverse comments don't come from Nike or Coke or GE. These are other citizens that don't have a voice, and that voice differs. If we are to take the power back, the public has to trust in what we'd do with that power.

Notrich, just FYI, the registration policy does not exclude opposing opinions, and it states that they are welcome. See the link below this thread.

[edit: I think the registration policy is under review, so don't be surprised if it changes. But I would be very surprised if it were changed to exclude opposing opinions!]

We necessarily have adopted a zero tolerance policy for trolls >those who repeatedly offer only disruptive abuse of the site and cause a lot of work and hassle for everyone offering constructive content. The OP (original poster) qualifies and one or two neutral posts does not disqualify. Good bye SAM.

Everyone knows the difference between destruction for destruction's sake, and constructive criticism. The latter posts are never intentionally deleted, the former –the endless posts from trolls who whose only motivation is to muddy the waters and cause chaos if possible- yeah, those we delete. 99% of the posters here have no problem using the forums respectfully. Admins like me are here to make sure this kind of atmosphere of peace and community continues.

only keeping this thread up so others know what's going on
