hey everyone,
i work with the american medical student association, a group of future physicians and allies who took an official solidarity stance with the OWS movement and worked to get health professions students out in support in nyc. (our solidarity statement and materials are at http://www.amsa.org/solidarity)
our national convention will be held in march in houston and because a lot of the work we do involves inspiring/training health professions students to become involved in advocating with communities for a better world, especially as it pertains to all things health – we were thinking about having a day of workshops to help those students and professionals understand some of what's been happening with the occupy movement and even get them to join forces with your local movement while we're on site.
in that vein – is there anyone organizing specifically around health in houston? i've searched the occupy houston website and will go on to check through forum posts. even if not – is there anyone you suggest we reach out to if we're interested in holding some kind of action or speak out in solidarity with all of the work you guys have been doing while we have extra numbers in town?
i appreciate any direction or thoughts!
