Occupy Houston Demands FBI Documents Regarding the Alleged Assassination Plot Against OH Activists

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Occupy Houston activists demand FBI release assassination plot details

We want to take a moment to thank everyone for your concerns regarding information released about the FBI’s knowledge of assassination plans that targeted key participants in our movement. These plots involved the execution of members of Occupy Houston through coordinated sniper fire.

We want you to know we are ok, we are not afraid, and we are not going to run from this. We, Occupy Houston, have launched a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for the documents, and are awaiting a response before deciding our next moves.

Occupy Houston activists collectively stand together and have made it public that we are running our own investigation of the assassination plots after learning that the FBI not only had knowledge of these plots but actively refused to inform Occupy Houston activists of the details. These extremely suspicious acts lead us to question whether the plot(s) were a government sanctioned plot or that of an independent entity.

Let’s be clear: a terror plot such as this one put our lives in danger. The FBI has refused to inform us of the details. The FBI felt it was best to not only keep this imperative information from us but continues to heavily redact documents that would answer our inquiries. The FBI is actively shielding a vicious plan to murder us under the all-too-familiar guise of national security.

Throughout the time that Occupy Houston physically occupied Tranquility Park, it was made clear that the Houston Police Department, Houston Mayor Annise Parker, the Houston FBI, Dept of Homeland Security, Austin Police Department (who infiltrated and set up Occupier activists from Houston, Dallas and Austin) and other government agencies were not interested in respecting peaceful democratic assemblies, and in fact they used the most undemocratic and violent methods to suppress our movement, here and all over the country.

We thank our supporters who have stood by our side since 2011. Occupy Houston has formally requested the documents as of March 19, 2014. We demand the FBI immediately release all information pertaining this case.

We would also like to thank MIT student Ryan Shapiro for his continued support and attempts to obtain these documents, which were previously denied by the FBI. Mr Shapiro, we appreciate your passion to stand up to government entities who work feverishly to defame and criminalize democratic movements that belong to us, the people.

In time we will be issuing another statement when we receive the documents from the FBI.

Extraction Reaction WednesdayS! 8/29

Report back from !Extraction Reaction WednesdayS! 8/29 Downtown TransCanada : 717 Texas

bit of a rough, short night “but before you know it, you’ll be so happy you aren’t anywhere else, the tiredness won’t matter”, I tell myself as I head to TransCanada @ 717 Texas with my new sign :)

yet nearly as soon as I arrive 2 “get a grip on reality, LADY” types jeer at me (possibly just for being early/alone :P robots sense weakness but had no further/sentient dialog to offer), and my hopes for an easy repeat of last week’s awesome acti
on seemed to be waning before even begun…

THEN Amanda rounded the corner! and Ben! Then Vi and Erick, Sarah, Michael, Jorge… and then we were 8! and I notice Jorge’s music guiding us (and even our would-be detractors) toward a brighter frequency of the downtown scraper-scape, transforming it into a real Community of the People. Real because any negativity was miniscule compared to the VIBRANT presence of loving and passionate people… having a blast!!!

coming together as conscientious *responsible adults* acting in order to save finite resources on which human life depends

sharing space, food, music, skills, and willingness to be part of real solutions instead of band-aids like this Tar Sands Madness! http://huff.to/PoH6NS

…and I didn’t want to be anywhere else in the world :) om

it occurs to me how vulnerable we can feel as individuals, and how exponentially strong we tend to become the instant we become a circle of 2, then 3… then 13 at the Galleria version (2700 Post Oak Blvd 6-8pm)

From the article “On February 2, 2012, Occupy Austin received an anonymous email tip that a member, known only as Butch, was actually an undercover police officer.”

this person allegedly made sure devices were used that resulted in felony charges against the protestors –charges had been dropped until Aug. 27th when *felony charges were reinstated*…

Ongoing Human Rights Banner Action – additional volunteers needed!

If you’re coming to the Russian Consulate at 4pm today, stay and help out with an action to support human rights! We need additional drivers and other helpers to assist in this very visible action.

We have a banner that reads “Supporting Human Rights in Egypt, Russia and the U.S.”, and “Occupy Houston” on the other side. We will be driving the banner back and forth between the consulates during rush hour and could use your help to take shifts driving, etc. Show up at the Russian Consulate at 4pm to volunteer :)

BACKGROUND:
Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network (NAN), along with
partners in labor, civil rights, and clergy from across the country,
will hold a rally in over 25-cities on December 9th, 2011 as a follow-
up to the mass march for jobs and justice that NAN held October 15,
2011.  The December 9th march will continue to focus on growing
economic disparity, lack of employment, and equality issues
surrounding our current economic state. We will call attention to
disproportionate layoffs of  Blacks, Latinos and other oppressed
groups, attacks on the public sector and the ever-growing wealth gap.
NAN will push for economic growth, job creation and concrete,
substantive ideas that truly begin to get people back to work. And we
will call out all those who stand in the way.The 25-city rallies will
call attention to key issues that have not been remedied in this
country. As working Americans struggle to gain employment and livable
wages, we continue to watch rampant attacks on workers rights and
increasing joblessness across the country.  The rallies will be held
in cities that are most impacted by the joblessness and attacks on
workers rights.
In recent years, too many American families have lost economic ground.
Over the decade ending in 2009, median family income fell by $3,800.
And the gap between the wealthiest Americans and those with the least
is growing every day, making it tougher to enter into the middle
class. With African American unemployment at an unacceptable 15%, this
is a clear sign that we need action-inaction is not an option. Black
layoffs have only skyrocketed as the public sector – heavily comprised
of a Black workforce – continues to slash jobs. And as a result, not
only has Black wealth diminished, but so too has the existence of much
of this nation’s Black middle class itself. Black, White or Brown -
that is a startling reality that should have all of us deeply
concerned.

According to a study released earlier this year by the Center for
Labor Research and Education at the University of California, Blacks
were 30% more likely than other workers to be employed in the public
sector. And while the private sector has added 1.6 million jobs as
reported in a recent New York Times piece, public employment has seen
massive layoffs across the board. Whether it’s teachers, firefighters,
police officers, or any other form of municipal work, the public
sector has been under attack from Wisconsin to NJ and everywhere in
between. From losing their bargaining rights to bearing the brunt of
city and state budget cuts, public service employees are watching
their entire life savings disappear. And because about 1 in 5 Blacks
work in civil service, we are disproportionately suffering yet again
during these tough times.

In the U.S. postal service alone, about 25% of employees are Black. It
is precisely because of work in this industry and in other government
entities that we were finally able to climb the economic and societal
ladder, and eventually begin to achieve the proverbial American dream
of home ownership. An entire Black middle class emerged via civil
service jobs, and we are now tragically close to witnessing the
greatest stumbling block to progress that will literally set us back
decades. But we can – and we must – do something to halt this
injustice that so clearly threatens our immediate future.
