October 22- National Day of Protest Against Police Brutality

October 22, 2012:
The 17th National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a GenerationAcross the U.S. on October 22, 2012, WEAR BLACK! FIGHT BACK!

The National Day of Protest aims to bring forward a powerful, visible, national protest against police brutality and the criminalization of a generation. It aims to give a voice to those most directly under the gun of Police Brutality AND to also reach into all parts of society and encourage others to stand in the fight against police brutality.

The National Day of Protest was initiated by a diverse coalition of organizations and individuals. We came together out of our concern that the people’s AWARENESS of and RESISTANCE to POLICE BRUTALITY needed to be taken to a higher level nationwide.

*** 4 PM – assemble at Market Square Park
*** 5 PM – march (bring your whistles, drums, tambourines, boxes, and signs!!)

Wear black!! Fight back!!

transparency issues- scott 12 up

erick
tyler – capitals network card, internet access fee
atilla – we need a budget, ask mouse to set up wifi,
***John has volunteered to be in charge of the orange extension chord
atilla- we should have a sign in sheet outside
tyler- “trusted list”
in house donation box
john- we need multiple
erick- we need specific boxes
scott- keep track of things like whose using the water so we can
get an idea of how many showers are taken
atilla- water is cold, kitchen water is not working
tyler- rather than multiple donation boxes, we should have a budget
cap- about 1100 a month
tyler- was told diff
cap-what did you hear
tyler- as soon as we can get 575 for top section we can get into it. from emily
erick- emily gives unreliable info sometimes
cap- gladys told me, she is giving us a discount of about 300 dollars a unit
scott- keep in mind we’re talking about maintenance and management of utilities
erick- gladys info
cap- will ask if gladys is ok with
v- we should conserve energy and water
atilla – circuits and breakers, lets learn about how to use them properly
trey- building showers outdoor
cap- each room has its own circuit
erick- we should know the amount that each circuit can take in rooms and a recommended usage list
scott- would like a budget for this month according to what we have access to
***PROPOSES WE HAVE A LINE ITEM BUDGET FOR THE NEXT MEETING
CONSENSUS ROCHED
V AND CAP  WILL DO THIS
v- wants to have bird bathe as a guideline
erick- give them info, let them make their own decision
cap- 8.9 cents per kilowatt hour is what we’re paying
cap- 75 dollar fee will be added , gladys is taking care of the water
erick- other utilities we will talk about will be gas and inter-net usage.
atilla- a bunch of techie stuff
jonathan- can give you an average of what you’re using a day
****VOLUNTEERS TO GET SOMETHING TOGETHER FOR THE NEXT MEETING
erick- we might want to hold off on energy usage bc that will drastically change when we get music recording info
scott- a pressing concern is access to the bathroom for someone who doesn’t have a key, when the house is locked and especially at night
erick- 2possible solutions- we should have someone manning the sign in sheet station, or a compost toilet
****ATILLA AND V VOLUNTEERS TO MAN THE SIGN IN SHEET TONIGHT
scott- i have a concern, the only people participating in this conversation have access to the bathroom
v-outside key holders?
erick- we should sleep outside, still sign in for bathroom,
sign in sheet is to make sure you’re here to help maintain and better resources, instead of just having access
tyler- we need to discuss on a regular basis who has access over those things, commune- its not an open blob w people coming in and out of the community
atilla- suggest we clear our mind for a second, do i want to participate in this community of not-this includes everything, the sign in sheet, working inside, working out here
scott- are people manning the sign in sheet going to be inside or outside?
v and atilla- inside
jay- seems big brother
cap- the reason were doing night watch is so you can come in and not jumble around and wake people up
v- its about productivity, even individually. we can be more conscious of what we’re doing
erick- also accountability , preventative measure to fucking up shit
tanya- after a certain hour it should be bathroom only
tyler- i love eating in the middle of the night.
jonathan- just have common courtesy
scott- one possible solution to the midnight snack issue is to prepare sandwiches and put them in the fridge
temp check of whose interested in having as many sign in sheets as possible to keep us productive while we’re at roccuppy
erick- solution is to have food outside, perhaps even having designated times for food serving and food creation
V PROPOSES 3 PM IN THE KITCHEN IS THE MEETING TIME AND PLACE FOR THOSE PREPARING DINNER
scott- that does not need a proposal, its more an announcement
erick- we have a 0 balance sheet right now, i would like to talk about how we can increase that number. can we set that as a goal? have 300 in two weeks
tyler- this is not occupy houston, people who donated to occhou donated for specific things, im curious what do we feel like someone is getting out of donating
scott- i think that whole discussion could be framed as making the website, which should explain what we’re doing. lets nail it down on the website, it is already up.
dan- friendly amendment- 5 or 6 hundred
scott- takes temp check, seems 600
tanya- trey has mentioned a bake sale, i have an oven can make cookies n cakes n stuff
tyler- sounds like about 20 bucks a week, is what were hoping for per person
cap- small suggestion- throw a bake sale here so that we can meet the community, schedule for a weekend as opposed to a weekday
v- money bad, we should do as much as we can without it
cap- hot water heating has gas leaks
scott- volunteer for property inspection and report back
************V, JONATHAN AND TY WILL DO THIS
