Workgroups

All of the Occupy Houston workgroups are for volunteers by volunteers and are always seeking assistance. Workgroup meetings are open to anyone and everyone and you are encouraged to jump in! We are all volunteers with different skills and ideas working together as a community. If you see opportunity to create another working group do so as many others are sure to take an interest. Our occupation is not possible without volunteers; working groups are open to all. Please feel free to attend any meetings that appeal to you and your talents!

People of Color

~Mission Statement: OccupyHouston is a leaderless group. However, issues of People of Color has been and are being marginalized by the concerns of other participants.  People of Color have been asked to go back to our respective communities and request from those communities more participation from  Asian, African American, Latino, Native American and Hispanic people.

We can not, however, do this as long as we feel that we are being marginalized by others.  That would be disingenuous and disrespectful to the legacies all of our communities.  The People of Color Caucus will encourage open dialogue and sincere debate to express our concerns democratically.  We reserve the right as did other Groups to meet privately if we are concerned about any further marginalization.  As People of Color, we refuse to be relegated or confined to the lower or outer limits of OccupyHouston. ” “OccupyHouston is a leaderless group.
